The candidate nominations for Concordium’s Governance Committee 2024 is done and in this article we will present the 6 candidates who applied for the two new spots.

The elected candidates will take an active role in the governance of the Concordium blockchain and will represent the community of token holders in governance decisions.

Context

The election for Concordium’s Governance Committee marks a significant step in the Concordium’s ongoing decentralization process. This election is set for June 2024 and involves the selection of two new members to expand the committee from its current composition.

The role of the Governance Committee is to advise the Concordium Foundation Board and to ensure that the blockchain evolves according to the Foundation’s objectives and public deeds. The elections represent a move towards a more decentralized structure, allowing CCD token holders greater influence over the governance of the blockchain.

Timeline

The election process began with the candidate nomination phase in April, followed by a period in May where the candidates will engage with the community. The final voting takes place between June 11–23 on the Concordium blockchain.

In addition to this article, each candidate will have the opportunity to present themselves to the community. The candidates are responsible for their own campaigning, but will get ongoing support by Concordium when needed.

Juan Vivas

How are you currently involved with the Concordium blockchain?

My company is part of the ecosystem.

Why do you want to join the Concordium Governance Committee?

Because I love you and I build everything on your blockchain.

Andreas Baidas

Professional occupation(s): Investor, CEO and co-owner of Ennismore Properties GmbH, founder and owner of Backstage Beauty GmbH, co-owner of Sienna Clubhouse Dubai.

How are you currently involved with the Concordium blockchain?

As a network investor and engaged community member, I contribute to the Concordium blockchain via strategic investments and active involvement in its ecosystem. My support ranges from financially backing pertinent use cases to promoting growth and innovation, utilizing my expertise in FinTech, Real Estate, Services, F&B, Web3, and Investing. This enhances Concordium’s development and expansion efforts. My extensive connections across the EMEA region enable me to connect communities, fostering opportunities and interest in Concordium’s adoption and investment from various markets.

Why do you want to join the Concordium Governance Committee?

I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to Concordium’s Governance Committee, with a keen focus on representing the investment community’s interests and priorities. My objective is to ensure comprehensive representation of the investment perspective, with a special emphasis on critical areas such as parameter and Tokenomics adjustments, transparency, security, decentralization, and regulatory clarity — key factors for bolstering investor confidence. My commitment to Concordium’s Governance Committee centers on ensuring that its decisions align with Concordium’s foundational mission, thereby promoting the platform’s growth in terms of transactions, wallet creation, user engagement, Total Value Locked, new use case development, and community expansion. I plan to use my insights into the investment community to champion strategies and policies that not only align with Concordium’s goals but also significantly enhance the ecosystem’s vibrancy and utility. By fostering active dialogue and collaboration, I aim to bridge the gap between Concordium’s ambitions and the investment community’s expectations, creating a more inclusive and investor-centric ecosystem.

Marion Mwangi

Professional occupation(s): Senior Finance Officer at Children of God Relief Fund, Nairobi.

How are you currently involved with the Concordium blockchain?

I’m not a developer but I’m a blockchain enthusiast, I’m quite conversant with the technology. Being employed in a non profit organisation, I deal with the community & I have been shedding some light to the people I meet and work with about blockchain. I came across Concordium in late 2022 and I have been a nominator looking forward to becoming a delegator.

Why do you want to join the Concordium Governance Committee?

I would love to represent the large community of young people and create awareness about blockchain and its possibilities. Being a finance officer, Concordium integration will make a massive upgrade to the field, and I would love to be in the frontline in making it happen.

Niels Sørensen

How are you currently involved with the Concordium blockchain?

I am the Founder of Provenance Tags, a Concordium-powered enterprise. Our main services encompass product identification and IoT solutions. Why do you want to join the Concordium Governance Committee?

I believe it’s crucial to have representation from the ecosystem within the Concordium Governance Committee to ensure that decisions are informed by relevant insights. I also feel that my background and knowledge equip me to contribute effectively and provide this necessary input.

Jesper Mathias Nielsen

Professional occupation(s): COO and co-founder at Northstake

How are you currently involved with the Concordium blockchain?

In my capacity of COO for Northstake I’ve been involved with Concordium since December 2021, first launching our support for the network in January 2022.

Throughout 2022 I contributed substantially to the Concordium ecosystem on both Telegram and in various development focused conversations with Concordium’s management.

Most recently, I’ve contributed to the creation and evaluation of Concordium’s Tokenomics Redesign.

Why do you want to join the Concordium Governance Committee?

I am eager to join the Concordium Governance Committee for several compelling reasons:

Decentralization and Governance: As Concordium transitions to a decentralized governance model, I am particularly interested in shaping this transformation. Participating in the Governance Committee will allow me to actively influence the integration of representative and direct democracy mechanisms into the blockchain, ensuring a fair and transparent governance process that empowers CCD holders.

Technical Influence and Innovation: My background in blockchain technology and strategic development aligns with the committee’s tasks, such as advising on protocol and tokenomics changes. I am passionate about using my skills to contribute to Concordium’s cutting-edge innovations and ensuring the blockchain meets evolving industry standards and user needs.

Community Representation and Engagement: Serving on the Governance Committee offers a unique opportunity to represent the community of CCD holders. I aim to bring their voices and concerns to the forefront of decision-making processes, facilitating a more inclusive and responsive governance structure that reflects the diverse Concordium ecosystem.

Above all, I believe Concordium’s commercial participants should give back to the community to help develop and mature the project.

To that end I see Concordium’s road to decentralization as an opportunity to better leverage its partnership with Northstake and its providers.

Mikael Bondum

Professional occupation(s): Staking and tokenomics consultant, partner at Myrmidon Staking, partner at Likeminded

How are you currently involved with the Concordium blockchain?

I have been involved with the Concordium blockchain over several stages. From preparing the first token economics design back in the winter of 2018/2019, to a full assessment in 2020, followed by a major redesign in the fall of 2023, I have been an integral part of the work associated with the tokenomics of Concordium.

Why do you want to join the Concordium Governance Committee?

I understand the token economics and vision of the Concordium blockchain very well and would like to continue to contribute with my experience, skills and knowledge within the domain. Coming with an outside perspective, I believe I can continuously help Concordium improve the backbone of the ecosystem through my participation in the Governance Committee.
