What is Concordium Name Service (CNS)?

CNS is like a directory system for the Concordium blockchain. It helps make things easier for people who use blockchain technology, especially those who aren’t experts. Just like the Internet’s DNS helps us find websites using domain names (like www.example.com), CNS does something similar for the Concordium blockchain. It helps us use easy-to-remember names instead of complicated blockchain addresses. Blockchain addresses are like secret codes that are hard for regular folks to understand or remember. This can lead to mistakes and wasted time when sending money or other things on the blockchain. CNS fixes this by giving people easy-to-read names. CNS takes names like ‘Lars.cns’ and links them to those complex blockchain addresses.

Q1. I’ve already purchased a CNS domain a while ago, what happens to my domain?

Your existing CNS domain is secure during the transition to the new platform. Concordium’s core team and Web23 have meticulously recorded all registered domains and associated account details from the previous system. Upon the launch of Web23’s upgraded platform, we have planned a seamless migration process for existing domain holders. This ensures that you retain ownership of your domain without any disruption or loss.

Q2. What incentives will I receive for patiently waiting for CNS for an extended period?

As a token of appreciation for your enduring support and patience, Web23 is extending the original expiration date of your initial subscription by six months when the migration occurs. This extension serves as a gesture of gratitude towards all loyal community members.

Q3. Where can I access and manage my domain portfolio?

You will gain access to convenient domain management options by linking your Concordium wallet to the Web23 website via https://app.ccddomain.com. This integrated approach offers you enhanced control and transparency over your domain portfolio. Initially, this dApp only supports a browser extension wallet, but Web23 expects to add WalletConnect in the future.

Q4. I have a Concordium Legacy wallet containing some domains. How can I transfer and view these domains in new wallets?

Rest assured, your domain is safe and in your account — as it has been since you purchased it. To see the domain and to transfer it to the latest version of the Concordium Wallet, you will need to be patient a little longer until this is supported in the mobile wallets. Once Web23 activates their Marketplace and support for WalletConnect you will be able to trade the domain here as well.

Q5. Can I view my domains in the CryptoX wallet?

Indeed, you can gain visibility and management capabilities for your CNS domains in the CryptoX wallet. All .ccd domains are represented as Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). To view your CNS domains, access the NFT management section within your CryptoX wallet. If you encounter any specific inquiries or issues pertaining to CNS domain visibility within the CryptoX wallet, please do not hesitate to reach out to CryptoX’s dedicated customer support for tailored assistance.

Announcing CCD Raffle

To commemorate this milestone, we are launching a raffle with a prize pool of $2,000 in $CCD tokens, which will be distributed among 20 lucky Concordium wallet holders who mint new .ccd domains between 21st of September and 21st of October 2023.

How to participate in the raffle?

*NOTE! If you already have a Concordium wallet and identity created, SKIP STEP 2.

1. Complete all tasks on the dedicated Galxe.com campaign and mint OAT (On-Chain Achievement Token).

2. Create a Concordium browser extension wallet and in the onboarding process create an ID linked to your wallet.*

3. Between 21st of September and 21st of October mint minimum 1 .ccd domain on Web23 platform. 1 domain represents 1 raffle ticket, minting more domains may give you a higher chance of winning.

4. Fill in this Google form to secure your participation.

Prerequisite for participation in the Campaign would also be completing all tasks and minting Web23 (OAT) On-Chain Achievement Token on Galxe.com

How to mint your .ccd domain on Web23 Platform?
