Concordium Governance Committee: Announcing the Newly Elected Members 2024

Concordium
June 26, 2024

tl;dr
June 2024 marked a significant milestone in Concordium’s journey towards decentralization with the successful election of two new members to the Governance Committee. This moment reflects our dedication to making governance more democratic and involving our community of CCD holders directly in decision-making. We are thrilled to introduce the newly elected members who will play a key role in shaping the future of the Concordium blockchain: Andreas Baidas and Mikael Bondum.

The Governance Committee

The Governance Committee is an advisory body to the Concordium Foundation Board, responsible for guiding the planned governance decentralization, proposing changes to tokenomics parameters, and recommending protocol updates. With the recent elections, the committee has expanded to include two members elected by the CCD holders, marking the first step towards a fully decentralized governance model by 2027.

Meet the Elected Members

We are pleased to introduce the two newly elected members who will be joining the Governance Committee:

1. Andreas Baidas
Investor, CEO, and Co-owner of Ennismore Properties GmbH
Andreas brings a wealth of experience as an investor and entrepreneur. His strategic investments and active involvement in the blockchain community have significantly contributed to Concordium’s growth. Andreas aims to represent the investment community’s interests, focusing on transparency, security, decentralization, and regulatory clarity.

2. Mikael Bondum
Staking and tokenomics consultant, partner at Myrmidon Staking, partner at Likeminded
Mikael has been deeply involved with the Concordium blockchain from its early stages. His extensive work on the tokenomics design, his expertise in staking and tokenomic and his continuous contributions to the ecosystem make him a valuable addition to the Governance Committee.

We congratulate Andreas Baidas and Mikael Bondum on their election to the Governance Committee and look forward to their contributions. We thank all the candidates for their participation and all CCD holders who voted, ensuring the success of this democratic process.

The Election Process

The election process was conducted in two stages: nomination and voting. Candidates were nominated in April 2024, followed by a campaigning period in May. Voting took place from June 11th to June 23rd, 2024, using an on-chain voting system that ensures privacy and verifiability. The votes were weighted by the average amount of CCD held in voting accounts over the three months preceding the election.

Looking Ahead

With the inclusion of Andreas Baidas and Mikael Bondum, the Governance Committee is now even better equipped to represent the diverse interests of the Concordium community. Their expertise will be instrumental in advising on critical governance decisions, including protocol updates, tokenomics, and the continued decentralization of the governance process.

This election is the first of many steps towards a fully decentralized governance structure. By mid-2027, the Governance Committee will be composed entirely of elected members, ensuring that the Concordium blockchain remains a robust, transparent, and community-driven platform.

Stay tuned for more updates and join us in welcoming our new committee members.
