We are excited to share some pivotal news that marks a new chapter in Concordium’s journey. Today, we announce the appointment of Boris Bohrer-Bilowitzki as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2024.

Boris joins us with nearly two decades of experience in custody, settlement, clearing and prime infrastructure for digital assets. His previous role as Founding Partner and Chief Commercial Officer at Copper, a leading digital asset trading infrastructure, has equipped him with the knowledge and skills to lead Concordium into its next phase of growth and innovation.

Under Boris’s leadership, Concordium will continue to advance our mission of digital identity authentication and regulation. Our goal is to protect citizens worldwide with a protocol-level ID layer, reinforcing our commitment to data privacy and security. His core belief is that identity, KYC and regulatory compliant blockchains will lead the future global adoption of distributed ledger technology. Enterprise focused use cases will be growing in the years to come but needs to be combined with an additional strategic direction that caters for more crypto native use cases.

Boris' appointment is therefore not just a leadership change but also a strategic move to reinforce our commitment to the full spectrum of blockchain and crypto use cases. His previous collaboration with Concordium through Copper and his deep understanding of our core values will ensure a seamless transition and continued success.

Lars Seier Christensen, who has been leading the project as chairman with an extended mandate for a little more than a year, will continue to support Concordium as Chairman of the Board. Lars expressed his confidence in Boris, stating, “We are thrilled to announce Boris as the new CEO at such a critical moment for Concordium. His expertise and previous collaboration with Concordium will make the transition as seamless as possible.”

Boris’s leadership comes at a time when digital identity protection is of paramount importance. Initiatives like eIDAS (Electronic Identification, Authentication, and Trust Services) across the EU and myGovID in Australia bring both challenges and opportunities that Concordium is well-positioned to address. Our collaboration with governments to develop trusted, verifiable credentials and data protection policies remains a top priority.

“I’m honored to be chosen for such an important role with Concordium, an organization I’ve admired for several years,” said Boris. “Working with Lars has given me a deep respect for Concordium’s core values, which I intend to uphold as we enter this new chapter.”

Data privacy is one of the biggest concerns for the next generation, and Concordium will continue to develop, implement, and secure new technologies that ensure the digital safety of global citizens. The days of the crypto wild west are over, and we are ready to embrace regulatory challenges with class-leading identity verification solutions.
