Run Your Own Concordium Node on AWS Marketplace
Would you like to run a Concordium node without the hassle of installing it on your own computer? Now, it’s possible to set up and run a Concordium node directly on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This makes it easier and faster for both new users and experienced node operators to get started.
Guide: Run a node on Amazon Web Services
What Does It Mean to Run a Node on Concordium?
Running a node on the Concordium network means you are contributing to the security and validity of the network. Nodes participate in validating transactions and creating new blocks on the blockchain. The more nodes there are, the more robust and secure the Concordium network becomes.
How Does It Work?
Soon, you will be able to set up your node through AWS Marketplace. Instead of downloading and configuring the node locally, you can rent server space from AWS, where the node will run automatically. This is a perfect solution for those who find it time-consuming to update their existing node or for new users who want to experiment with running a node for the first time.
Node 7.0.5 will support Protocol 7, and by using AWS, you can easily set up a node that will be fully compatible with the latest version of Concordium’s protocol.
Cost
Using AWS isn’t free, but the costs are transparent. You pay Amazon directly for the use of their servers — nothing goes to Concordium. We recommend checking Amazon’s website for the exact cost.
Timing
This feature will be available alongside the release of Protocol 7 on October 30th 2024, allowing users to run a Concordium node on AWS at the same time.
